Astronomy Quiz National Final at HartRAO 2006/10/27

The SAASTA astronomy quiz was organised through five centres in 2006: HartRAO, and SciBono Discovery Centre in Gauteng, Boyden Science Centre on Bloemfontein, SAAO in Cape Town and SALT in the Northern Cape. Aimed at Grade 7 learners, the first round at each centre involved teams of four learners from up to 30 schools. Four quiz rounds reduced this to one team from each centre, who arrived at HartRAO on Friday 27 October for the National finals.

The finalists were Arethabeng from Soshanguve, Eunice from Bloemfontein, Pinelands North from Cape Town, Randfontein from western Gauteng and Williston from the Northern Cape.

This project was funded by SAASTA as a contribution to DST's astronomy platform month, and was ably managed by a SAASTA team.
