The NCCS should be at least as performant as the existing HP 1000
control system.
No official figures exist for the HP 1000 but from discussions with
staff this implies guaranteeing a minimum of a 10 Hz control cycle with
50 Hz being desirable.
The new system must also be capable of generating logfiles and network
access at that speed as well.
Number crunching requirements will be determined by calculations
required for the different observing programs e.g. doppler (VLSR),
pulsar ephemerides, planet positions.
